The Gorge (2025): A Film That Finally Gave Me Something Different

I just watched 'The Gorge' - on Apple TV and… wow. I don’t even know where to start, but I have to talk about it.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen something that actually made me sit up in my seat and feel like, “Wait, this is new.” You know that feeling? That sense that you’re not just watching another version of the same story we’ve all seen a hundred times. The Gorge gave me that. It was refreshing. It was different. And honestly, it was exactly what I needed.

From the very first few scenes, I could tell the movie had its own language, its own heartbeat. It wasn’t trying to imitate anything it had its own bold vibe, and it committed to it fully. That’s rare. The concept itself? Loved it. It's one of those ideas where you sit there wondering how no one thought of it before and at the same time, you're so glad that these filmmakers were the ones to bring it to life.

And I think that’s what really hit me the most the film had this raw, emotional intensity, but at the same time, it didn’t spoon-feed you. It trusted you to keep up. It didn’t just tell a story, it created an experience. Something visceral. Something beautiful and brutal at the same time.

The performances? Stellar. Every character felt like they had depth, like they were carrying weight we weren’t always allowed to see and that made them even more real. And visually? I mean… it was gorgeous. The cinematography had me pausing in my head like, “Okay, that’s a wallpaper. And that. And that.”

"AND THAT"

I honestly don’t want to spoil anything because this is one of those movies that deserves to be experienced without too many expectations or plot details in your head. Just go in with an open mind and let it take you wherever it wants to go. You’ll come out of it feeling like you’ve actually watched something.

But hey, real talk, I didn’t love the ending. I kind of saw it coming. Not in a predictable way, but in that “I knew they were going to go there” way. Maybe that’s the point. Maybe that was the filmmakers’ message that certain things are inevitable no matter how much we hope otherwise. I don’t know, maybe. Still, it left me feeling a bit… conflicted.

And maybe that’s the beauty of it too. Not every film needs to wrap things up in a perfect bow. Sometimes, the ending you expect is the one that stings the most.

All I can say is that -The Gorge made me feel something. And that, for me, is always worth it.
